Kanban Systems Design: IT / Operations

This training focuses on optimizing the whole of the organization by introducing practices that help break down silos and promote cross-functional collaboration.

We begin with looking at the “what and why” of your existing organizations performance and follow with discussions and interactive exercises on the Kanban Method. Attendees play the “Kanban for Ops” version of the GetKanban game. Also covered are ways to manage risks related to the increasing complexity around software delivery and support.

This class is appropriate for Configuration, Release, and Change Management Leads, Operations and Infrastructure leads and managers, Service desk support, and project leads.


This 2-day Kanban training class uses an interactive teaching method to help students gain an understanding of Kanban Pull Systems and how to apply them to the build, deploy and environment maintenance arena. Working in small teams, class attendees will analyze and design a kanban system implementation for a real world scenario.

  • Managing bottlenecks appropriately for improved throughput
  • Understanding transaction and coordination costs in a kanban process
  • Using Metrics and Reporting to drive continuous improvement

Attendees are expected to have read the book Kanban by David J Anderson or Kanban from the Inside by Mike Burrows. 

The Alternative Path to Agility

Team Kanban Practitioner is the first step to true organizational agility through the Kanban Method. The full series of classes, intended to be taken in order, includes:

1-day Team Kanban Practitioner (TKP)

2-day Kanban System Design -or- Kanban for IT / Operations (Foundation I)

2-day Kanban Management Professional (Foundation II)

Substitutions are accepted at any time. Cancellations must be notified by email and refunds will be provided according to the following:

  • More than 10 days prior = 80% of course fee

  • 5 to 10 days prior = 50% of course fee

  • Less than 5 days = no refund provided

David J Anderson and Associates, Inc. (DJAA) reserves the right to postpone or cancel this event if there are insufficient registrations or if presenters are unable to attend due to illness. If necessary, you will be notified no later than 7 days prior to the event and all registration payments will be refunded promptly or, if you prefer, rescheduled to another class.  If circumstances require, presenters may be substituted for alternative qualified presenters with equivalent experience.
