Kanban System Design

The second day of the Foundations-level Kanban training class, certified by Lean Kanban University, is for managers, developers, and anyone wanting to learn the fundamentals of the Kanban Method. The class includes exercises to design an actual Kanban system and initiate change with Kanban.

The content of day 2 of the Kanban Systems Design course covers the following topics, presented in the form of intensive, non-technical exercises organized in small groups, classroom teaching, and discussion:

  • STATIK (Systems Thinking Approach To Introducing Kanban)
    • Understanding the motivation for change
    • Analyzing demand and capability
    • Modeling workflow
    • Discovering classes of service
    • Designing a Kanban system & visualizing work
  • Managing recurring events and cadence
  • Establishing system replenishment and delivery frequency policies
  • Designing Kanban tickets and visual boards

The Kanban Management Professional Class

The Kanban Management Professional class is a set of principles and practices that are applied to an existing process to help an organization solve problems it may be experiencing. 

Foundation Principles

  • Initially, respect current roles, responsibilities & job titles

Core Practices

  • Visualize
  • Limit WIP
  • Manage Flow
  • Make Process Policies Explicit
  • Implement Feedback Loops

	The class curriculum is based on the work of David J. Anderson, pioneer of the Kanban Method, 
and author of the definitive book, Kanban: Successful Evolutionary Change for your Technology Business.

Course participants will receive:

  • A digital copy of the book Kanban by David J. Anderson 
  • Certificate of Completion of Lean Kanban University Certified Kanban Training, digital format
  • Membership in Lean Kanban University and a listing in the LKU Alumni Directory.

This class will take place in the Lean Kanban University | Anderson School of Management training center in Seattle, Washington, at 200 1st Avenue West, Suite 404, Seattle, WA 98119.

Cancellation Policy – Please Note

Substitutions are accepted at any time. Cancellations must be notified by email and refunds will be provided according to the following:

  • More than 10 days prior = 80% of course fee

  • 5 to 10 days prior = 50% of course fee

  • Less than 5 days = no refund provided

David J Anderson and Associates, Inc. (DJAA) reserves the right to postpone or cancel this event if there are insufficient registrations or if presenters are unable to attend due to illness. If necessary, you will be notified no later than 7 days prior to the event and all registration payments will be refunded promptly or, if you prefer, rescheduled to another class.  If circumstances require, presenters may be substituted for alternative qualified presenters with equivalent experience.
